Resolving the contradiction - Those reading the two reviews at present available may be mystified by their contrast. This is , however, explicable in terms of the burn in required for all grado earphones, particularly their most expensive models. After at least 200 hours the sound becomes perfectly balanced, clear yet warm. From the box the treble is piercing and tinselly and the bass, mid and treble do not cohere. Be patient or ask your dealer to burn them in. Thats the least he should do at the price!
Awful - Sound quality is shoddy. I am utterly repulsed by the amount of money I have spent on this waste of time.
Headphones to live for - The Grado RS1 - The Grado RS1 has to be heard to be believed. I had read 16 expert reviews of these headphones all of them positive and unaninmous in extolling their virtues. Still at prices ranging from £500 plus upwards, I couldn t believe they were that good. I steeled myself, put down the money and was amazed at the difference in class between these phones and their nearest competitors. I have the other headphones in this league and they are very good, but the Grado s are something special. All I can say to music lovers is dig deep their worth every penny. Tony Murphy.
